DID YOU KNOW…
A common mistake when planning your lighting is to not think through the task of each illumination point in the space, resulting in light sources placed in areas where they don’t necessarily contribute to their full potential.
PLACEMENT
It’s easy to place spotlights and lamps so that they look good on a drawing, but in reality, they may work and look completely different. A good rule of thumb when installing lighting, is to focus on places where there is something in particular to illuminate – for example to highlight a painting, a certain detail or something else you want to emphasize.
FUNCTION
The main purpose could also be to provide the right light for a specific function – for example, in the hallway to see your clothing. Each light source has its own purpose, make sure to optimize it.
A GOOD TRICK TO KNOW
By not directing enough light up towards the ceiling, you will end up with the perception of smaller rooms and lower ceiling height. Illuminating more of your ceiling is an easy trick to make a space feel more generous…
