MATT BLACK KITCHEN
Award winning kitchen designer, Annika Rowson, never fails to amaze us with her thoughtfully designed spaces. This time she gives us a glance into her own private kitchen; a simple yet elegant and textured space with a sophisticated European aesthetic.
The eye-catching reversed Corian block island creates a unique texture, with the matt black back wall effortlessly melding back into the space.
The aim was to create a modern space but with a nod to the 1940s era of the home, while adding a touch of Parisian aesthetic. Wall paneling was replicated from the foyer detail, and the soft sheer curtains and chevron flooring adds warmth and texture. As in several of her previous designs, we recognize the moody, textured and intriguing atmosphere.
Black CLOSET BARS add a sense of drama while bringing necessary texture to the integrated tall cabinetry. Integrated appliances from Fisher & Paykel feature throughout. In order to create elegant and understated spaces, Annika advises to focus on a few key features combined with minimal and simple design – “you can always add more detail & texture/layers in the form of soft furnishings, art etc. but by keeping the main components pared back, you will let the overall aesthetic confidently shine.”
