Helena Åkerberg, Light Architect at Greatlight talks about the importance of lighting in the living room:

The living room is generally a space with multiple functions –we use it to read, watch TV or to socialise. To meet our different needs for this room, a basic rule is to make sure there are many bright spots. This way, you can facilitate the functions desired and open up to more and better use.

Apart from hanging pendants, and directional light for reading, include wall lights and spotlights to illuminate walls, plants and art, -this will make a vast impact on the atmosphere.

As always, don’t underestimate the power of dimmable light sources; -being able to adjust brightness will make all the difference in tweaking atmosphere to suit the mood.
