Drafted in 1973, the lounge chair has a distinctly 70s silhouette and shares its frame construction with the bikes that give Chopper its name. The updated oversized two-piece steel frame of the 2023 rendition is finished in black chrome, with a generous stance and iconic lines. Comfort and support come from a thick full grain leather seat and backrest, with solid brass Buster + Punch coin caps elevating the details.

LONDoN DESIGN FESTIVAL 2023

A stone’s throw from the garage where it all began, Buster + Punch will mark its 10th anniversary with A Decade of Details. An installation showcasing ten of its most iconic pieces, alongside the preview of the Chopper Chair.

IT ALL STARTED IN A GARAGE IN EAST LONDON…

“AN ANNIVERSARY PROMPTS REFLECTION, CELEBRATION, AND A CHANCE FOR RENEWAL. I AM PROUD THAT WE WERE THE FIRST TO BRING FUNCTIONAL HOME FITTINGS TO LIFE, THROUGH OUR PASSION FOR METALS. OUR ORIGINALITY, UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE AND APPROACH HAVE CARVED OUT NEW PATHS IN INTERIORS FOR A DECADE.

As a brand, we’ve always embraced change. Today, our world differs vastly from our small garage beginnings.

Back then, inspiration bloomed from the cracks of London’s pavements, whereas now, our skyline soars and social media strives to isolate and detach us from the streets we once walked. These changes are opportunities to unearth new inspirations, talents and techniques, while staying true to our roots. We pledge to be more responsible and ensure our products remain meaningful and unique. We’ll stay analogue and tactile, while looking forward – melding tradition with technology to shape new chapters. Pushing industry boundaries and drawing inspiration from our city’s subcultures, we promise to prioritise our people, customers and community, placing them at the centre of our world.”

[ type. ROCKSTAR BAR. ]

AS SEEN IN ROLLING STONE

“The first product to emerge from our East London garage, and the first piece of furniture to grace the pages of Rolling Stone, the Rockstar Bar has swagger to boot. Made bespoke by hand, in the finest materials, it’s found in the homes of the world’s most iconic musicians, movie stars and A-listers.A charismatic piece with pure stage presence.”

YOUR MOVE…

“Wind back the clock and we saw a chance to bring new levels of flexibility to installed lighting – using a hook! Hooked was the first light to move with your design changes over time. Rather than rewire, if you switched around the layout of a space, you just reposition the hook. It wasn’t long before the rest of the design world got hooked on the idea.”

[ type. THE LIGHT SWITCH. ]

SWITCH UP

“The light switch with its own music video, Buster + Punch’s solid metal switch is an icon. Inspired by amplifier knobs and with an aesthetic charged with London’s music scene, it’s the piece that put us on the map. The tactility of the knurling and the action alters the way you connect with your architectural surroundings. It’s love at first touch.”

YOU MAY FEEL LIKE A ROCKSTAR

“Buster + Punch was the first label to bring cross knurling into interiors. It’s a hangover from my days making custom motorbikes, where we use cross knurling functionally for enhancing grip but also decoration. The signature Buster + Punch cross-knurl signifies that our pieces are crafted from solid metal and adds function, with a feel that reminds us that we’re all rockstars in our own home.”

[ type. THE DOOR HANDLE. ]

ALWAYS MAKE A BIG ENTRANCE

“The door handle is one of interior design’s unsung workhorses – a functional essential with hero aspirations. We added our cross-knurl, made it from solid metal, gave the rose a radial brushing and finished it off with the solid metal B+P coin screw. The aesthetic follows through into our cabinet hardware for a seamless foundation of detailing in a space, which was something architects and interior designers were missing at the time. It’s a door handle that opens your mind to the power of details.”

[ type. BUSTER BULB. ]

THE WORLD’S FIRST DESIGNER LED BULB

“Against all odds, Buster + Punch really did reinvent the lightbulb! In 2015, working from our East London garage, the Davids of Buster + Punch beat the industry Goliaths and released the Buster Bulb – the world’s first designer LED lightbulb! Rather than try and alter the filament, we invented our patented light pipe and shell – in three colours, to manipulate the light temperature and hue.”

[ type. THE SPOTLIGHT. ]

ALWAYS LOOK UP

“The spotlight is another piece that epitomises the mantra of Buster + Punch – to transform everyday items into unforgettable essentials. We took our custom motorcycle roots and the exhaust pipe as inspiration to enhance the spotlight in a decorative sense. We used a combination of design attributes to soften its light pattern and boosted it aesthetically. The spotlight also saw the birth of our burnt steel finish, referencing the rainbow flaring that happens to a stainless steel exhaust over time as it heats and cools.”

[ type. CAST BATHROOM. ]

FOR EXTRAORDINARY SPACES

“The Cast Bathroom range is the first collection that we’ve developed around an entire space rather than a single design idea. Cast is our third ‘look’ and a homage to metal as our material of choice. The way the pieces combine one-of-a-kind casted solid metal elements with hand-refined, polished metal has taken years to perfect. When you design a bathroom it’s important to match your metal details. Cast gives you everything you need to curate a space that shines strong.”
