Spaces with a little history can be intimidating when it comes to interiors, but they don’t have to be. It’s not a case of asking if they can be tamed – it’s more about how you’re going to grab ’em by the cornices and bend them to your will.

In this case, a lofty Stockholm apartment right in the middle of its cultish SoFo district, the undulating original details are neutralised by urban Scandinavian minimalism.

The historical elements are light and left raw in places, a nice trick that takes some of the aesthetical sting away. Furniture and design elements are understated, with a splash of colour, a little gold embellishment here and there, simple wooden table that’s been enjoyed, and bold inlaid storage in the bedrooms. It’s a backdrop for details to shine through, HOOKED light pendants illuminate the dining area and HOOKED 6.0 create a centrepiece in the living room, which the entire apartment revolves around.
One part decadence, one part cool simplicity. All parts style.
